About us

Hi, my name is Kaydian DaCosta i was born on the beautiful island of Jamaica i now currently reside in Canada. Growing up there was always a stigma circulating that black peoples hair cannot grow and i always thought it to be true because my hair would not grow it would only grow to a certain length and stop, my hair was always getting shorter but never longer. Fast forwarding to adulthood i learn that the stigma placed on our hair not being able to grow was absolutely false.

I started doing some extensive research on hair, texture, what promotes and what prevents growth, hair types and much more. The most valuable lesson i learned from my research is absolutely no product can grow your hair without you having a consistent hair routine which involves washing, moisturizing, less manipulation, protective styling, never combing your hair when it's dry and more. It was then that i decided to start my personal journey on hair growth however i was bent on using natural ingredients in my hair.

I then started reading the labels on products when i went to hair stores and realized they contained so many ingredients/chemicals that was not necessarily good for the hair and scalp. It was in this process of learning about hair products and there ingredients that i decided i would learn how to make my own natural hair products.

I went on a search to gain the knowledge of what natural butters and oils was beneficial to the hair and roots, after some extensive research i decided it's time to go in my kitchen and start formulating my natural hair ingredients. After some trial and error i had formulated the ingredients i needed to see and feel in a hair product. I  then decided that i wanted to share these natural blends with anyone who it would be beneficial to while bringing awareness that the stigma about our hair not being able to grow was indeed misleading and false.

I launched Kay DaCosta Beauty January 2, 2023 and to my surprise the customers that bought my products loved it and even came back to purchase again, i felt really good! I finally found something i not only love doing but would be beneficial to others.
